Using presentation software like power point has many advantages and disadvantages. i believe powerpoints are better used in grades 9-12. Most high schoolers are not interested in coming to school and they don't want to do unneccesary work like foldables. They would rather have notes on a powerpoints so they can write them all down. Also if a teacher ahs a lot of material to cover then the power points can get very long and the classroom is not interactive.
When using a powerpoint to inform students about new material I would pick one subject. For nineth graders I owuld talk about Shakespeare. I would begin talking aobut his childhood and how his past made him who he was. I would then have a picture of them and maybe offer extra credit for a student to dress up like him. Then I would continue to talk about Shakespeare and his greatest works and then show a clip from a movie or a docementry.
Educational technology is always changing. Every year a new product comes out or something gets updated. Our kids are also learning this new technology at rapid speed. It is weird to think about writing a paper by hand and not on the computer. I am also interested in learning about the smart board. In twentyy years there will be no white boards but only smart boards. I am really excited to learn how to use it.
